Red Hat's IT Infrastructure Services teams is looking for a Senior System Engineer with focus on storage technologies to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you will help us deliver on the Red Hat's next generation IT and hybrid datacenter strategy. You’ll help provide technical expertise for Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions, focusing on building self-service, automated, scalable, and resilient offerings. You'll help design, build, and manage our infrastructure services including storage, compute, and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offerings through Amazon Web Services (AWS) and other providers. As a Senior System Engineer, you’ll need to be able to code and script and use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools.
Primary job responsibilities
Provide direction on strategic initiatives for the storage infrastructure
Come up with engineering solutions to operationalize and automate storage functions
Provide engineering support for storage infrastructure; this includes monitoring and troubleshooting storage-related problems
Help build and manage our large-scale infrastructure and platform services, including public cloud, private cloud, and datacenter services
Develop new services and capabilities to support a hybrid datacenter model
Establish and recommend policies on system use and services; help define offerings, KPIs, monitoring, and overall management of the services
Partner with business groups to consult on technical solutions, moving the business forward
Provide mentoring to other staff members on the team and across teams
Design and implement complex local and wide-area networks of machines
3-5 years of experience in a system or software engineering role in the infrastructure space
Experience with infrastructure (storage, compute, networking, etc.) performance and capacity-monitoring techniques
Storage administrator experience with storage area network (SAN) and network-attached storage (NAS), Fibre Channel (FC), ISCSI, RAID, LVM, etc.
Experience with solutions like NetApp, Red Hat Gluster Storage, Red Hat Ceph Storage, DRBD, and object storage; knowledge of software-defined storage is a plus
Experience with configuration management, automation, and orchestration using modern tools; ability to model complex configurations in tools and broad understanding of the role of desired configuration as part of strategic organizational knowledge
Solid understanding of operating system administration, e.g., installation and configuration, configuring and managing basic services, the fundamentals of security, and ability to use performance analysis to tune systems
Solid understanding of cloud technologies, including experience with either public or private cloud services covering compute, networking, storage and other concepts like Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS); experience with Red Hat OpenStack Platform, OpenShift by Red Hat, or AWS is a plus
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification, or equivalent experience and ability to achieve certification within six months; Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) certification is a plus
Ability to program in an administrative language like Python or Ruby; familiarity with other common languages like Java, C++, or others
Experience with application development life cycle; experience with release engineering, continuous integration (CI), or continuous development (CD) technologies and processes is a plus
Experience with system and IT operations
Comfortable with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment
