Purpose of the role:

  • You will be responsible for the co-ordination of site & section based activities to achieve the Safety, Security, Environmental targets. You have a “can do” attitude and act with accountability and sense of urgency, contributing to as an individual and as part of the team.

  • You will operate in an environment which is centred on developing and sustain a safe, and secure work place whilst considering the impact on the environment by:

  • Influencing and coaching other managers & colleagues to deliver a step change in our safety culture

  • Collate the information from the site to identify daily safety & environmental losses and assist the sections with developing solutions

  • Improve site safety & environmental performance and contribute to the SHE pillar as part of the IL6S program.

  • You work closely with each Section to provide feedback and solutions to improve ours ways of working.

  • You understand the need for flexibility is key to our success and are willing to work across the site.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical support and advice to managers on SSE legal compliance and best practice in addition to coaching managers in best practice / approach in order to deliver a step change in safety performance

1. Co-ordination of site EMS including:

  • Review environmental aspects and assisting with development of control measures

  • EMS documentation, control and records

  • Internal Audit Schedule and undertaking audits

2. Providing support and assistance to Sections on:

  • Risk assessment programmes

  • SSE audit and inspection programmes

  • Development of SSE procedures and One Point Lessons

  • Incident investigations

  • Delivering SSE training - including developing training materials where required

  • Validation of corrective actions on Enablon

3. Co-ordination of :

  • SSE training programmes

  • SSE Inspection & Audit schedules

  • SSE non-conformances and close out

4. Maintenance of SSE KPI/KAI data including:

  • Accident statistics

  • Environmental KPI’s

  • Enablon

5. Claim management:

  • Maintain efficient records of all claims received

  • Processing claims received ensuring these are forward to the insurance provide without delay

  • Collate information/evidence required by insurers/solicitors

6. IL6S:

  • IL6S pillar development

  • System Ownership - Responsible for taking the lead and ensuring that employees are trained and using the system which you own

  • Undertaking the roles of SHE pillar deputy

  • Ensuring the KPI’s & KAI’s are up to date

  • Assisting the SSE Manager with the development of site SSE management systems

  • Deputising for SSE Manager when necessary

7. Other duties

  • Ensure all PO’s for the department are raised and good receipted in a timely manner

Skills/Qualification:

Required:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Environment or Safety

  • Qualification in HS management systems

  • Minimum 3 years experience as a HS practitioner

  • Must be fluent in English - both written and spoken

  • Technical functional excellence in SSE and demonstrated thought leadership

  • Project management skills, particularly utilizing outside engineering resources.

  • Demonstrated ability to build functional and business teams and create motivational environment.

  • Demonstrating good process management and good pragmatic business application of systems and functional principles and standards

  • Strong communication, training and presentation skills

  • Good managerial courage, with appropriate priority setting and the ability to resolve conflict in progressive manner.

Preferred:

  • Training and qualification in auditing on ISO 14001 and 18001 standards

  • Qualification in applicable local HS legal compliance

  • Demonstrated ability to develop passion, understanding and capability for functional agenda in key reports and others in business

  • Good ability to build relationships across the business and also within local industry

  • Strong change management skills

  • Appropriate auditing experience of HS systems

  • Other suitable experience for plant or region
