Position Requirements:

  • Collaborate on the design of quality documentation that adheres to a common language and style guide

  • Work closely with product teams to learn about complex technical concepts

  • Publish official documentation that goes out to more than 30,000 companies

  • Be coached by experienced technical writers, developers, and quality assurance professionals

  • Learn about the agile software development process and how to become an invaluable member of a scrum team

  • Create, edit, and enhance technical documentation using industry-standard DocBook XML

  • Script video tutorials and assist with their production

  • Build your career in a busy but relaxed environment with plenty of fun

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent written English and verbal communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • A passion for technology and learning software products

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Eagerness to learn from and share with others

  • Be a team player, but can work independently too

Additional Assets:

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time degree course in English language or literature

  • Alternatively, a technical course with a high proportion of professional writing

  • Intern or other industry experience with software or developer documentation

  • Previous experience with authoring tools, such as Arbortext or FrameMaker

  • Foundational knowledge of XML, JavaScript, or Perl

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance, test or user manuals for paper, multimedia or web-based publications. Contributes to the timely design, production and delivery/completion of product documentation and document sets.

As a member of the technical writing division, you will prepare technical data for use in routine technical publications and product support literature, within existing guidelines, Follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.

Work involves some problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and processes. Gaining competence in own area and acquiring a higher level understanding of role, processes and procedures. BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 0-2 years of previous software engineering or related experience.
