Shire Market Access Manager - Czech Republic in Prague, Czech Republic

Primary Duties

The position combines Market Access with External Affairs support to Head of VD&A and External Affairs Cluster for company products, in order to achieve sustainable sales growth and generate new business in line with agreed business objectives.

The primary purpose of the Value Demonstration and Market Access Manager is to maximize access and uptake for in-line and pipeline brands by ensuring that the market access strategy and tactics are aligned with the country/cluster business objectives.

Additional responsibilities include strategic initiatives, payer materials, toolkits and innovative partnership solutions including tools/materials to support the specialized commissioning.

The Value Demo & Market Access Manager plays an essential role in delivering the overall brand market access strategy (nationally and locally) for pipeline and in-line products, and ensuring successful cross-functional working with the commercial and medical business functions, and also with international and global colleagues where relevant.

Further the key responsibilities in this position will be to advise and to support the commercialization of company products by optimizing market access and market share especially with regard to health economic and health political aspects.


  • Develop market access strategic and tactical plans for pipeline and in-line products to ensure delivery on business objectives

  • To impact international pricing & reimbursement systems on marketing and market access strategies

  • To ensure the cross functional cooperation with product teams regarding all questions about pricing and reimbursement and value argumentation

  • Develop / adapt value demonstration tools, e.g. cost effectiveness and budget impact models for use with customers, value propositions, etc, ensuring projects are delivered in a timely manner and through cross-functional working with colleagues

  • Support tender submissions for relevant products and work on initiatives to help shape the current and future tendering environment

  • Shape service redesign/development strategies in conjunction with both specialised commissioning and HDM team with the aim of creating solutions to overcome uptake barriers

  • Support development of joint working initiatives, where relevant

  • Work with wider market access and regulatory teams to shape early pipeline access strategy and data generation plan for pipeline assets / indications in conjunction with wider market access, medical and commercial teams

  • Lead the development of strategies and tactics for key market access customer groups across the Shire product portfolio including opportunities to shape non-branded market access programmes to enhance Shire’s leadership status amongst payers

  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the healthcare system, health policy, commissioning process, tendering process and the customer interface relevant to the therapeutic area

  • Maintain a network of influencers and decision makers to bring external insights and intelligence to Shire’s decision marking; maintain strong relationship with payer customers

  • Identify and anticipate future payer customer needs, constraints and requirements impacting Shire and the therapeutic areas

  • Educate internal teams in both market access and medical / commercial on changes in the external environment and how this affects Shire’s payer strategies, and adapt Shire’s payer strategies in line with external changes

  • Responsible for managing allocated programmes and budgets.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in life sciences or equivalent, with further degree in health economics, health policy (desirable)

  • Strong Market Access knowledge

  • Strong HTA knowledge

  • Deep understanding of the business

  • Regional or national level experience of stakeholder engagement and delivery of Partnership Projects

  • Demonstrated experience in project management to deliver outcomes
